Events Steamboat entertains locals and visitors year-round with a huge variety of lively events. Winter: from the famous winter carnival (February) to free concerts, parades, firework shows, and competitions, there's plenty to do on and off the mountain. Summer: wine & food fests, hot-air balloon rodeos, epic fishing, horseback adventures, tubing the river, farmers' markets, pro rodeos, wah hoo!

Snowsports I chose Steamboat largely for the town, the surroundings, the culture, and the people; but there's no doubt the mountain is what it's all about. Visit Steamboat's official site for details on lift tickets, lessons, mountain guides, kids' programs, racing, hours, conditions, on-mountain dining, and more.

Dining & Nightlife Some of our favorite local haunts:
  • Just down the street (on Village Drive):
    • La Montana mango maragaritas, world famous enchiladas, oh my
  • Ski Time Square (walk 1 mile or take the free bus just 5 stops):
    • Tugboat Grill & Pub: live music, food, full bar, rambunctious locals
    • Slopeside Grill: good food and drink; typically swamped for apres-ski
    • Gondola Pub & Grill: drinks and food at the base of the mountain
  • Between the Digs and Downtown (Connect to free bus, Blue or Red Line):
    • Freshies: great breakfast and lunch, a locals' favorite - midway between Steamboat Digs and downtown
    • Ore House
    • Canton Chinese Restaurant
  • Downtown Steamboat Springs (Connect to free bus, Blue or Red Line):
    • Creekside Cafe: spectacular eggs benedict & more
    • Mazzola's Italian Restaurant
    • Harwigs/ L'Apogee: pretty fancy, gourmet eats
Shopping & Supplies
  • Market on the Mountain: groceries, liquor, sandwiches, espresso, ... makes a nice morning stroll for coffee and supplies.
  • City Market, Safeway, Mal-Wart, and other shops/services are just down the hill
  • Grocery delivery: haven't tried this new service, but feel free to check it out.
  • There is no shortage of unique shopping experiences on the mountain, in town, and around... if you're into that.
