Great Digs on a Fantastic Mountain

Minutes from the Gondola (really!):
- Walk 4 blocks to free bus stop; ride just 4 stops to gondola (winter)
- Or walk less than 1 mile to gondola base
- Store gear for free in your own ski locker at the base of the mountain
Stroll to groceries, liquor, restaurants, and shopping!
Easy free bus to downtown Steamboat Springs
22 miles from Hayden airport (8 airlines; nonstops from 9 airports)

from the East (e.g., Denver):

Take I-70 West through Eisenhower Tunnel (under Continental Divide)

Take Silverthorne Exit #205 (on right at bottom of hill after tunnel)

Go right at light onto Colorado Hwy 9 North (38 miles to Kremmling)

In downtown Kremmling, go left at light onto U.S. Hwy 40

Take U.S. Hwy. 40 West (49 miles to Steamboat over Rabbit Ears Pass)

Take a right at first light in Steamboat = Walton Creek Road

Head uphill past Village Drive & go right on Columbine Drive

Just past Inn at Steamboat, stay left into Subalpine Condos parking lot

Lot on far side is closest: take stairs to 3rd floor: Condo #34

from the West (e.g., Salt Lake):

Drive to Denver and follow the instructions above. Ha ha. We recommend taking Hwy 40 from Salt Lake: it's scenic & direct.

Fly Steamboat is just 22 miles from Hayden airport with nonstop flights from 7 major airports and easy connections worldwide.

With surprisingly cheap deals on flights, and expanded airline service, think seriously about flying here—no car needed at the Digs! Or, Denver International Airport (DEN) is a lovely 3-hour drive (or so). And if DEN doesn't have a direct flight to your home, well, just where the heck are you from anyway?

Ship Luggage Ship your gear direct to and from Steamboat: some services cost about the same as airline fees--without the hassle. Please make sure to confirm hours of operation and other details: I haven't used any of these services yet.

High Country Shipping (877) 231-1363: Door to door shipping - we haven't tested this service but the prices look fair and it might be really handy! See our physical address at bottom of this page. Note: there is no staff or office on-site at our condo, so you must be present for dropoff and pickup if you try this.

Limo/Shuttle/Taxi You'll find the location convenient to the free bus--and walkable to just about everything you'll need. There are also taxi, limo and shuttle services available.

Car Rental Steamboat Motors rents new cars at very competitive prices. Rumor has it they also pick you up at the airport, help with your luggage, and make you really scratch your head if you're thinking of renting somewhere else. Call Tom at (970) 879-7424.

BUS DETAILS (routes & timing change approx. Nov 26 to Apr 12)

Bus stop #118-Herbage: just 4 blocks away (just uphill on Apres Ski Way)
2 routes = 6 busses per hour: wait fewer than 15 minutes
Gondola Transit Center is just 4 stops away (approximately a 3-minute ride)
Connect at Gondola Transit Center to get downtown (may not have to disembark)
Free bus service runs daily approx. 6:30 am to 1:00 am: Click for schedules, maps, and details.

Locker at the Gondola Guests have access to their own ski locker at the base of the mountain, under the SportStalker shop. With careful packing, it fits 4+ pairs of skis (or 2 snowboards) plus some boots, shoes, or a little other gear.
